BGMI Lite vs BGMI is not the comparison most players expect. If you played PUBG Mobile Lite before the 2020 ban, you probably think “Lite” means 60 players, tiny maps and a separate account. From everything KRAFTON India has announced so far, BGMI Lite works the other way: it is the same game, on the same account, in the same lobbies, with a much smaller install. Its tagline is “Nothing Less, Just Lighter”.
This page compares both apps using only what has been announced or reported as of the date above. Anything KRAFTON has not confirmed is marked TBA, not guessed.
Quick verdict: which one should you install?
Pick BGMI Lite if
- Your phone has 2 GB to 4 GB RAM
- You have less than 8 GB of free storage
- BGMI lags, heats up or crashes mid-match on your device
- You mostly play classic Erangel and want a fast install
Stay on BGMI if
- Your phone has 6 GB RAM or more and plenty of storage
- You play on high frame rates or HD graphics and do not want to lose them
- You play competitive and want zero unknowns until BGMI Lite’s graphics settings are confirmed
- You are on iPhone (no BGMI Lite details for iOS yet)
This is guidance based on announced information. BGMI Lite has not launched, so nobody has real benchmark numbers yet. We will update this section with device tests on launch day.

BGMI Lite is not PUBG Mobile Lite
This is the part most comparison videos get wrong. The old PUBG Mobile Lite was a separate, cut-down game. BGMI Lite is announced as a lighter way into the same game. Here is the difference in one table.

You may have seen websites listing “60 players, Varenga map, 600 MB” as BGMI Lite features. Those are the old PUBG Mobile Lite specs copied forward. KRAFTON India has announced none of them.
Size and storage
Storage is the real reason BGMI Lite exists. KRAFTON India says the initial download is around 1 GB, and extra content is split into modules so you only install what you actually play.
Standard BGMI looks small on the Play Store, but it does not stay small. After installing 4.6 you still need a resource pack (about 230 MB for Low, about 1.7 GB for HD), and then classic maps other than the current themed ones, plus modes like WOW, TDM, Domination and Quick Match, are separate downloads.

If your phone is always showing “storage almost full”, this gap is the whole argument for BGMI Lite. If storage is not a problem for you, size alone is not a reason to switch.
Requirements and performance
Reports of KRAFTON’s promo material put BGMI Lite’s minimum at 1.5 GB RAM with an Adreno 306 or better GPU. Here is the detail almost nobody mentions: the official BGMI help center lists the same minimum for standard BGMI (Android 4.4 or higher, Adreno 306 or higher, minimum 1.5 GB RAM).
So on paper, both apps have the same floor. In practice, anyone who has tried standard BGMI on a 2 GB or 3 GB phone knows that “minimum” means it opens, not that it plays well. The promise of BGMI Lite is a lower real-world load: smaller install, faster loading, less strain on RAM and storage. How much smoother it actually runs can only be measured after launch.
Still not announced: minimum Android version, supported chipset list, graphics options and frame-rate caps. Any site giving you exact FPS numbers for BGMI Lite today is guessing.

Account, cross-play and progress
This is the biggest upgrade over the old Lite model, and the good news is simple:
- Same account. You log in to BGMI Lite with your existing BGMI account. No transfer or ID migration process.
- Your inventory comes with you. Items and progress are reported to carry over to BGMI Lite.
- Cross-play. A BGMI Lite player can squad up with friends on standard BGMI.
Some websites currently claim that accounts and sensitivity cannot be shared between the two apps. That does not match KRAFTON India’s announcement. Because the account is shared, your layout and sensitivity should be available through the usual cloud save. We will confirm this on launch day. If you want a clean baseline before then, build one with the BGMI sensitivity code generator.
One open question: can you keep both apps installed and switch between them? The global sibling app allows switching at any time. KRAFTON India has not said this specifically for BGMI Lite.
Maps, modes and players
What India has confirmed: the core battle royale experience, a base install of around 1 GB, and extra modules you download as needed. KRAFTON India has not yet listed which maps and modes are in the base install.
What the global version does: PUBG Mobile Light, announced the same day and opening pre-registration on the same date, launches in November 2026 with classic Erangel and up to 100 players in the base install. Miramar, Sanhok, Team Deathmatch and Metro Royale are on-demand downloads.
BGMI usually mirrors PUBG Mobile closely, so BGMI Lite will very likely follow this structure. It is still not confirmed for India, which is why those cells in our table say TBA.

How to pre-register safely
- Open Google Play on your Android phone.
- Search for BGMI Lite and check that the publisher is KRAFTON, Inc.
- Tap Pre-register. You can turn on automatic install so it downloads at launch.
- KRAFTON has said pre-registered players will get rewards. The rewards have not been revealed.

Is BGMI Lite the same as PUBG Mobile Lite?
No. PUBG Mobile Lite was a separate, smaller game with its own account and no cross-play. BGMI Lite is announced as a lighter app for the same BGMI experience, using your existing account with cross-play.
Can BGMI Lite players play with BGMI players?
Yes. KRAFTON India has confirmed cross-play, so BGMI Lite and BGMI players can squad up together.
Will my BGMI account, skins and UC work in BGMI Lite?
You use the same BGMI account with no transfer process, and items and progress are reported to carry over. KRAFTON has not published a separate note about UC balance yet.
How big is BGMI Lite?

Does BGMI Lite have 100 players?
